One of the forum members loves to see me squirm when he comes up with a new project for me to do. This one was no exception when he asked me to convert a standard AmtraP1020533P1020534P1020535P1020536P1020537P1020538P1020539P1020540k passenger car onto car no 10001. He gave me some pictures and as usual, it did not really sink in to me because I had no idea how I was going to go about this.

I started with replacing the windows to match the configuration on the pictures he gave me of 10001. I figured ythe easiest way was to cut the windows area right out of the car and build something new. I was so happy to find out the car was made of styrene so I could easily glue back the new styrene window section. Here are some pictures.

  • P1020537: I glued the window sections in by adding a .060: square strip on the top and bottom inside.
  • P1020538: I actually hand bent the .030" styrene piece to match the slight roll in the side of the car.
