Here are some things that I have been noticing that are new around the system

1-  The R160's are being retrofitted with digital ad signs and access points in all the cars  They are installing the acess points in the door pockets on the number 2 end of the car   The digital signs are going where the artwork sign was

2-  These things started popping up on the Brighton line a few months ago  Still dont know what they are but they were installed with an antenna that looked like a coffee cup lid.  Now they are going back to some of them and installing larger pole antenna's  Tey are marked with the letters CP and a number   They are about every 600-1000 feet along the right of way

3-  If you didn't see this on the Second ave subway thread this is the new style track   It has rubber plates under the concrete ties for sound deadening  There are also cylindrical troughs for drainage that prevent the buildup of garbage and muck

They could be Wifi Repeaters?

Yes they are   The signs can be updated anywhere along the right of way now that Wi-Fi is system wide  They can be used for messaging as well as ads

I dont think the things on the right of way are repeaters   The CP usually stands for control point  I think they are power control points for the new automated board planned for the control center   They will indicate train position also
