When I was at Trainfest in Milwaukee last Saturday, I saw the new buildings at Woodland Scenic's booth and got to see them lit up. Awesome!!!

I was dying to find out if they were LED's and they are! In my opinion, they are continuing to set the bar very high. I was even told by one of my friends that the lights are dimmable, but I can not confirm that.

I'd be interested to know how they make these on a mass production.  I would think they'd have to all be painted and put together by hand.  It's hard to imagine how they could get each one looking similar.

Really nice buildings.  For those of us who lacks the artistic abilities to do these things ourselves, these things are a god send.

Ray - The Menard's versions are available, but they do not have the interiors or the lighting. Otherwise, they are the same except for the Menards signs on the buildings. The country store has the names of the building supplies that Menards sells on them too.

Can't go wrong with either version, but I like the ones with the lights myself.

Did they quote a price as the Menards are about $100?

MSRP for the Emporium is $139.99.  MSRP for the Country Store Expansion and the Bicycle Shop is $149.99 each.

'Street Price'?...our store will probably have them at $111 and $119, respectively, which should be typical of most LHS's.

(For reminder/reference...The first three buildings from a year ago are MSRP'd at $124.99 and $129.99.  No lights, though.)

But, they're not here yet.   Distributors say 'late November'.  Think early December.  Sooner the better for holiday selling.

Nice photos, though.....THANKS FOR POSTING!!!

Woodland Scenics confirmed that they do have dimmable lights. So, we can set the brightness for the mood that we want.

We should see them in late November or early December as has already been stated.

Originally I was just going for the corner barber shop and pool hall, but then I found a spot for the bike shop and now I think I have to make a spot for the country store.

J.W. Cobbler, part of the first group of 3 O-scale bldgs released a year ago, does not light up.

However, there was a thread on this forum, I believe, that talked about ways to put lights into those buildings.

I would venture to say that, if the new lighted building feature is a smashing success...as it would seem destined from early comments...Woodland Scenics will have a tech-support response to your question at a future date.  The O scale built-ups are still in their 'infancy' compared to the generous line of HO products...all NOT lighted...and WS is not one to miss a marketing hit if it's within their grasp.

But, that's just MHO.

Last year, I did not find out about the first three buildings until the were almost gone so it took me about three months to get all three.  Feeling I had learned my lesson, I purchased the two 2012 buildings I wanted from Menards as soon as they were available.  I had read that the Menards buildings did not have lights but knew I could add my own.  The only problem is that the Menards building also DO NOT HAVE THE PRINTED INTERIOR.

I think the printed interiors in the Hardware and general store are very nice especially when lights are added.  I am pretty bummed out that my Menards corner emporium does not have the nice printed interior like the one posted on this thread.

I guess sometimes it pays to wait.

If something is 139.99, it's $140.  Big L and big M do it too.  Why do they

persist???

Ahem, pardon me, it's my favorite rant and pet peeve.

Hang in there.

The United States is preparing to eliminate Pennies and Nickels beginning in 2013. The melt and metal content is now worth twice or more face value.

I like the country store very much, where and how can I find one with the lights?

This was posted on Facebook by Woodland Scenics. More info about their lighting.

We have had a lot of questions about the lighting in our new O scale Built-&-Ready buildings, shipping later this month. All buildings have lights. Depending on the building, lights are white, colored or a combination of both, exterior or interior. They are all LED, individually dimmable, require 16-20VAC and draw a maximum current of 30mA each. The lighting specifics for each building are now listed on their corresponding item page, accessible through the Coming Soon page on our website. Hope this helps to clear everything up! Happy Modeling!

Any shop that carries Woodland Scenics products (and that includes a great many shops) should be able to get them for you.  If you have a local train shop, I might recommend that you try them first.  But if you have a favorite mail-order dealer, fire off an e-mail inquiry to him.  Virtually all the large dealers also carry the Woodland Scenics line.

I'm running out of room on my layout for buildings and have room for only one of the three - all the space remaining in my downtown area is spoke for:

I need a nice rural country store for the forest end of the layout: the only building out there.   I ordered the cycle shop from my LHS -and will modify it into a country store/gas station/repair shop rather than use the WS country store.  When I was a kid we lived in the Rockies and we would always go up into the mountains on Sunday drives. Far from anywhere there was this one very solid, brick auto repair place by the side of the state highway.  It seemed so out of place, so solid and heavy duty to be in the middle of nowhere.  I'm going to recreate it along my country road.

I wish the country store was not under construction.  I know that it adds to the realism of a layout when real things are going on such as building a building, but something bugs me about this not being completed.  I think I'd be better about it if it were scratch-built, but for that kind of money, I kind of want a completed building.  Also, for me, these buildings look so realistic that I just want to enjoy the completed thing.

But yes, I think we are all going to be in trouble if new buildings keep coming out like this every year.  Look at all of us.  So many of us bought all three last year and many are buying at least one of them this year.  We are going to need larger layouts.
