That was my comment about the HO track

I didn't mean to take anything away from the spectacular work that owner did. He is very good at structures and scenery. I guess I just don't understand the track choice... He could have just as easily purchased On30 track and it would have looked even better. To each their own I suppose. If I had built a layout that spectacular it would drive me bonkers to look at HO track. Maybe it's just me?

Yep, no question there. I doubt anyone here could, say, re-create a German railroad where someone living in Germany wouldn't immediately spot that a German didn't build it.

Generally, I have been unimpressed with signage on many model RRs I've seen. So many modelers love using san-serif typefaces in timeframes where that wouldn't have been seen, as well as signs that are downright massive compared to real-life. I get that people want to be able to see the signs, but I prefer scale fidelity. I also strive to use typefaces that are correct for the timeframe. For example, I have movie posters on structures on my layout which are correct scale. They have the theater name at the bottom which can only ready with a magnifying glass. My train order chalk boards on the depots can be read, but only with optics and not easily with the naked eye...

FWIW the Bachmann On30 display layout at York was 90% HO track. It was probably built when On30 was first introduced. Some sections were only recently rebuilt with On30 track. Its my understanding this person is a well known artist in the art world. I find his weathering among the best I have seen. I assume the nit pickers here can do better.

Pete

I saw a video of this layout 's owner doing the water, and wave scenes, that he has on this layout.

I guess to say, it was almost breath taking, wouldn't quite do this justice. I'm like you guys, the quality of his modeling is at, or beyond Museum Quality, not unlike some of the work that Joey Ricard does.

I try helping on our clubs layouts, but I don't have an artist eye, and I know for a fact, that I'll never even come close to what some of you guys do.

I just hope you guys keep posting pictures of your work, or "art" as it well maybe....................Thanks for posting this "Art" ............................Brandy!

I doubt that On30 track is readily available in Europe. Meter gauge is the predominant narrow gauge over there. I think the track is a minor issue compared to all the other outstanding detail work on this layout.
