Thank David - could you possibly share the link so that I could take a look. Don't want to waste the hour drive.

Here is the blow-out link from the email...

Not much Lionel rolling stock listed, but there may a Lionel locomotive or two from several years ago (or more) that calls your name.  Other than that, nothing jumped out at me as a "must have".  But YMMV.  And there's likely ALWAYS something you'll find when you visit a store as nice as Nicholas Smith Trains.

I made the 45 minute drive from South Jersey.  Not much that interested me but I did purchase the Lionel Amtrak HHP-8 Command Control engine from the set for $195.  I went upstairs to look around and that Legacy CN GP-9 piggyback set really caught my eye. That set would have never appealed to me had I not seen it in person.  Perhaps, a future purchase.

Had I not found that engine I would have walked away empty-handed.  I was hoping they would have rolled out some of those LGB engines they have sitting on the warehouse shelves, and maybe offer some blowout pricing on scale Lionel rolling stock and engines, but it was not to be.

I was there for the first time today, and I loved the place. I wasn't really there for the tent sale, however. I happened to check their website the other night, looking for a GW-180 to power my Christmas layout. I won't claim I checked 100 places, but their price was well below any other I have seen so far, so I was happy to make the trip out there after work. I saw a lot that interested me, but since I was on my motorcycle, my cargo space was pretty limited.

So the whole point of a tent sale is to sell the stuff you have too much of and sell the stuff that nobody wants. They are in the business to make money so giving away all the great stuff at screaming great prices is just not going to happen. Now if you went there looking for the deal of a lifetime on all the great stuff that was just foolishness. I have probably spent about 50 grand at Nicholas Smith, all of it with Joey and I can honestly tell you that he has never shot down an reasonable offer I have made. If there is something you want make him a realistic and fair offer and youll get it. Some stuff he just needs to get rid of and maybe you get lucky but in this world, make your own luck.
