Good morning guy's,

I'm as busy as one can be, but the busier I am the better I like it. !!!!!

My layout will have to take a backseat for now, I'm totally satisfied that the layout is at the point where I can run trains. While I'm hard at work, it's soothing that i can get a nice steam engine rolling and listen to the chuffs and puffs in the background.

Busy and loving it !!!!!!

Thanks,

Alex

We have finished , lighted samples of the Ameri-Builds structures here at the office and they look GREAT!.

I always wanted versions of our buildings that looked like this, but my skill level at painting and detailing wasn't up to it. Now, thanks to Alex's work, I can have Ed's Hardware and Granato's Grocery the way I always imagined they would look...and that is just for starters.

Wait until you see the new Ameri-Builds packaging. It looks so good that the collector in me is tempted to leave the buildings in the boxes!

Ameritown buildings on the layout.  Three story building are approximately 11" to top of front façade, by a little over 6"X 6"   Add the sidewalk to the front.

Two story building pictures is approximately 7 1/2" tall 12" X 6"  add docks and exterior steps, and the water tower.  Custom fabricated buildings are  1/2 brick wall panel deep, about 3".

Most of the building description have the dimensions listed.

When it came time to build my small downtown scene in one area, I turned to Ameritowne as the look was perfect. I cut most of the fronts to two story and painted them accordingly. Enclosed them in a shallow light box for illumination.  Now if I were to suggest a new product how about 2 and 3 story finished fronts? I would use them to replace another town made up almost entirely of printed fronts. The Ameritowns look so such much better and I would redo it.

Take a look:

Now lets compare the Ameritowne to the printed fronts:

I'd say Ameritowne wins hands down.

Good morning all, thank you all for the nice comments, input, and interest.!!!!

Ed I'm so happy that you can now have the Ameri-Towne structures the way you've always wanted them.!!!!!!

Pat, I'm so looking forward to tomorrow, can't wait !!!!!

GRJ, I will have to figure a way to get that 10.00 dollars for my sloppy autograph. lol

Also Rich did give me the day off tomorrow, so we can have a great time at Pat and Jean's home.

Thanks,

Alex

Finished fronts....a great idea!

In addition to using finished fronts to build small downtown areas where space is limited, the other advantage is that you can construct a shallow light box behind them to illuminate the interiors, thereby adding additional dimension and realism.

I still have several OGR kits, new in the box, picked them up several years ago on a Saturday just before the York Meet closing.

I asked the guy if he really wanted to take them home so he gave them to me for a song.  Not telling which song I had to sing, LOL!

To get my money back I might have to send them to Alex to finish.  But then I'd have to sing again & nobody wants to hear that.
