So on Friday I went to my lhs to pick up my Premier Wabash SD70 Ace. I have the Nickel Plate Road and Central of Georgia which are drop dead gorgeous. I was looking forward to the Wabash. So we put it on the store layout and it had problems running.

They wouldn't sell it to me, it needed to go back to MTH

I was bummed....

However, in the meantime I decided to go with the next engine on my pile. The Premier Northern Pacific F7 ABA. I put it on the store layout, the Proto 3 blew my mind, and the sounds, and looks were drop dead gorgeous. When I see that Raymond Lowey 2 tone green it knocks me over in a state of ecstasy!

I've been on cloud 9 for the last couple of days..when I came down to earth I have been stunned by the looks. Man I can't wait for the next National Capital Trackers meeting, MTh did a nice job with this model. Now I have to work through the passenger cars and extra B unit.

David,

I'll help you out here with a few photos of the lead A unit. I have had my ABBA set running for about a month now and I am very happy for the most part. The diesels look and run great. My only complaint is with the passenger cars - the domes appear to have the wrong numbers on them. Sigh. I purchased all of the add-on cars with the exception of the full length dome as I don't believe the NP had any.

...

Well at least MTH used numbers on the dome cars.  They were catalog'd with names instead of numbers, which would have been worse.  Full vista domes are always a favorite  add-on of mine to the set.  So I purchased an extra one, even though they may not have existed in the prototype.  They're optional for those who like them, which makes it nice.

David (MUEagle),

I get it, too much is always better than not enough! For the first photo I tried the panorama feature on the iphone. The detail isn't crisp but it captures the length okay. This is why the photos looks as though it's curved towards the edges. This feature worked really well at Bryce Canyon this summer.

Excuse the layout. I am currently still wiring all of the switches. I started it in January 2013 but still have a long way to go.

Rocky Mountaineer,

I realize that there are compromises but in this day and age when a quick internet search yields the correct information in a matter of minutes it's hard to believe that MTH can still get it wrong.

PTC,

You are close. The trifecta on my pike is NP, GN and the Milwaukee Road. All railroads that traversed Montana. I often imagine what is was like riding these trains through the beautiful Northern Rockies. I have many books of color photographs showing the incredible geography these roads passed through. I can't get enough!

Speaking of Northern, out of sight behind the GN diesels are a GN 4-8-4 and Milwaukee Road 4-8-4. The NP 4-8-4 is under a display case next to my desk. I like Northern's.

Hi Eagle,

I also bought the Premier NP F-7 A-B-A set and I agree they look magnificent. I run mine with a 7 car set of K-Line 15" NP North Coast Limited cars with full interiors, etc. and the usual K-Line quality.

I also have the MTH Premier Great Northern F-3 ABA 20-20402-1 set on order but alas it's not here yet. I'll use it to pull my K-Line 15" GN "Empire Builder" consist.

Those are 2 of my favorite passenger trains in my collection. Great color combinations in my book.

OK, I'm confused,,,,,,you already purchased the A-B-A set,,,,,yet now you what PHOTOS?

Hot Water...let me eat some crow pie and say the following...(and hang my head in shame...) I don't know how to post pictures on the forum.

I opted for something a bit different here in terms of motive power.  Doesn't always work out, but this time it did.  I purchased all three of Lionel's BNSF Heritage NP SD70's (two powered and one dummy) and waited for the first manufacturer to produce the passenger cars.

I first thought about GGD, but they're taking much too long to commit to delivering their "finish" sets in NP.  I would have liked to see Lionel come out with a North Coast Limited in 18" aluminum, but MTH came out with their cars this summer that make a delightfully complete train.    And speaking of BTO, some of the NP cars are already hard to come by!    Glad I had most of mine on pre-order From the 2014 Vol 1 catalog.

Why not simply open-up your boxes then, and LOOK AT THEM?  THus, no "photos" needed.
