One year ago today, a dear friend and LCCA Honorary President Infinity, Lou Caponi passed away due to complications from diabetes.    Please keep Lou, his wife Rose and son Dom in your thoughts and prayers.      Lou’s spirit and  source of inspiration continues to live in our hearts and minds.

During the LCCA’s 44th Annual Convention held July 20-26 at the Marriott East Hotel in Indianapolis IN, LCCA Director Roger Farkash unveiled the “Lou Caponi Memorial” modular Railroad Section.  TW TrainWorx of Dallas TX designed and built two Lionel/LCCA FasTrack Modular Railroad sections in honor of Lou.    In addition to Lou’s love for the LCCA and the Junior Membership program, Lou was also a hot rod car enthusiasts and owner of Loco Louie’s Train Store.   These modular sections are intended to celebrate Lou’s life and interests.   This is in keeping with Lou’s request to have Roger build a LCCA/Lionel FasTrack Modular Railroad Section  for him and a way to continue to spread the joy and magic of Lionel trains.   Thank you Roger!

If you are so inclined, building a LCCA/Lionel Modular RR section in honor of a loved one may be of interest to you.   For me personally, my toy train layout at home is a memorial to my father. My father passed away suddenly and unexpectedly just before my first son was born.   My layout serves a connection between my father, me and my children.  You may want to consider building your own memorial  to celebrate the life of a loved one as part of a LCCA/ Lionel FasTrack Modular Railroad layout.    This is a personal choice and not intended to offend anyone.   My Lionel train layout memorial to my father helped me get through the grieving process and deal with the loss of my father and mentor Alfonse A. Kolis

Respectfully,

Lou’s brother from another mother.

Al Kolis

Lou's death was a big loss to the hobby and especially to the LCCA.

Lou was a larger than life guy, big personality, charismatic and spoke what was on his mind and cared about quality in the products he developed for the LCCA even if he had to step on some toes at Lionel or the company making the product. You also always know where you stood with him. I admire those qualities in a person.

Lou, rest in peace.

Ben,

You got that right!  This world will never be the same without Marty and Lou!  We miss them dearly.     In addition to being an officer in the LCCA,  Lou Caponi was also a member of the NJ Hi-Railers Club in Paterson NJ.    Lou loved Marty and the guys.  He considered you to be his paisons.    Lou also loved Chef Vinnie’s Italian Cuisine.   Let’s keep the legacy of Marty and Lou going.   They are with us in spirit and a source of inspiration today and forever.

Sincerely,

Al K.

Ps.  I know for certain this OGR Forum is not the same without CAPS CAPONI. He certainly was provocative at times!
