Here I am again York was just a few days ago and I have P.Y.D.S. again.  I just looked it up; October York is 177 days away. There's nothing like seeing all my OGR friends at York, the thrill of the hunt and the wonderment of the new train items. There are few things that are a bigger let down than when you realize that it is over for another six months. This is an especially dangerous time for me since I find myself train shopping to fill the York void. I have been studying my standard gauge shelves in my train room wondering if I can use brackets and go three shelves deep on the top three shelves.

I still want another Y-3, Lionel Standard Gauge Gauge General, Set of Cadet Blue Ives Passenger cars, more MTH Premier 4-4-0's to reletter....will it ever end.

maybe we should consider online group counseling - if you think about it - there has been many references during the "york" experience to model train mental health issues, not only post york depression as mentioned in this post - but other issues such "regrets on a missed purchase" - "spending to much" - "not enough funds to enable one to spend to much" - "why did i not leave my checkbook carrying wife at home" -  "could not find the right boxcar, etc" - "my car is not big enough to carry all my loot" - "an unhealthy like of lionel and or mth" - "an unhealthy love of lionel or mth" - "the wind blew my tent away syndrome" - and there are many other, this list is not complete -

i am sure consider all the member we have - there is a forum member who has a psychiatric degree in "Model Railroaders Post York Depression and Psychosis" and can immediately start an online group session

just trying to help - rdeal

I wish I could have stayed for Saturday. I met of lot of nice people. Got to see what's coming down the road to further bust my wallet and deplete my ever-diminishing storage space. Picked up a lot of information from various dealers. Also looks like I'll be buying my benchwork instead of building it after talking to Tim Foley of Mianne Benchwork.

I'd like to publicly thank Jeff Waldman who twisted my arm and convinced me to go, though he forever compromised his reputation by vouching for me as his guest.

Alas, PYDS is setting in even after exposure to just one York show, so I'll have to break down and join TCA and make arrangements for next spring. Don't think I can do two a year. And next time I'm going to visit the Strasburg Rail Museum!

Hi Scott,

I deduce from the photos that you must have gained entry to your house.

You must have...

A) Been really good and not purchased anything above the strict allowance to pass inspection upon your return from York.

B) You have tunnelled in from the Dog House to test run your York stash!

C) Sent Mrs. Smith on a Cruise, so she is out of the way and you can again sneak in your trains.

D) Found Mrs. Smith's weak spot and bribed your way in with a pair of Jimmy Choo's, Louis Vuitton handbag, Gold plated .50 Desert Eagle.....delete as appropriate.

Who says all my stuff is home from York? I even left my trunk open on the street so my wife could see that there were not any trains in there......So where are the trains--that's my secret.

A wise man! Opening the trunk, so your wife could see the empty trunk through the telescopic sights.....I am liking your style.

That's the telescopic rifle sights.

Matt,
I didn't realize that you made the trip until I read it on the forum when I got back. I am sorry I missed out on meeting you in person. You may want to consider the fall event since that is when most of the product announcements seem to come out...there is also a little more excitement with the October meet.

Scott Smith

Usually, PYDS hits me hard, specifically on the drive home and waking up on Sunday with no Halls to visit.

But this trip I found so many great trains I couldn't wait to get home to do more work on my layout rebuild I have been working on.  I can't wait to see the new trains I've acquired rolling down the tracks!

I'm hoping that by consistently working on the layout will bridge the time gap between now and October's Meet.  That and a couple rail fanning trips to the Bridgeview B&B in Harrisburg or Altoona's Horseshoe Curve, along with our Northern Central Hirailer's trip to the Essex Steam Train in Connecticut this summer with help easy the pain.  Oh, the pain!

And then there's always our fabulous forum sponsors to come to the rescue!

Suffering PYDS big time.

Already bought 2 things on eBay that I could not find at York.

This was my first time, and I'm somewhat disappointed that I didn't see several who post or sponsor here.  As an example, I didn't see Brennan's Ballast (not that I needed any...).  Also didn't see Nassau Hobbies. I probably walked right by them, just didn't register.  Didn't see Pat's either.

As a side note, at least in the dealer halls, I'd like to see signs up for who you are - not just a tiny rack of business cards.  Most do, some don't.  Don't know if that's why I didn't see some of you, but for us newbies, sometimes we need to be hit upside the head with a 2x4 to wake us up!

Now my biggest challenge is figuring out how to break it to my wife that I want to go back in October!  I could probably go 1x / yr no problem, but I can hear it now.... (somewhat jesting - she's great by letting me pretty much do what I want).

I was at the G scale York meet. Charles Ro alone, had tables full of deals. I could have spent a few hundred just on parts and supplies. I found a couple of rare items that I'm looking for. A G scale Accucraft brass electric K4. A LGB Genesis in the wave scheme.

My girl, reminded me that we were there to pick up track and I should just look. I'm still dreaming of all the stuff I passed up on.

Next York trip, I'm going alone!

I agree Scott. This year seems to have a bit more let down, not expecting to be back at Vinice's booth in the fall. After 4 years helping out, it'll seem strange not being in an Orange Hall booth.

I cleaned up, too this year 2 different Freedom train locos, and a hard to find MTH Woodside set.

Hope Vince and Peg find their spot in Florida, but if not, I know he'll have plenty more inventory for next year.
