Hi everyone, in today's "are you kidding" me segment.......

Hex Side rod screws - we have a Weaver 1800LP that has dropped a side rod hex screw somewhere AND our MTH Railking 30-1123-1 has ALSO lost a side rod screw. I live in the Philadelphia area, any thoughts on where I can find these and match the pitch/size? I can go to Nicholas Smith or Hennings or perhaps there is a specialty supplier of screws and fasteners in the area?

Thank you Cole & Ed Diamond

As general advice for future fastener needs; this won't help you with the hex-head shoulder screw, almost certainly:

Typically there is nothing exotic about the fasteners used in RR models - most would be metric, these days, but even fairly modern pieces (like the last Lionel US-produced scale Hudsons from the 90's) will probably contain standard fasteners.

I have found screws at Ace hardware that were absolutely correct - but only the "big" ones, like boiler-shell mounting screws - these were just like MTH's (one of my project locos), except in brass, rather than steel.

Finding shoulder screws can be annoying, but a piece of tubing cut and slipped on a non-shoulder screw under the head can create one. Have done it.
