Recently, I purchased a PCB 691-AMDK-074 to install in an old Lionel slant back tender.

I already have the small speaker needed for this installation, but the PCB comes with 5 separate wires and no installation directions.

Can one of you mental giants help me connect this PCB without me guessing and burning it out?

It's a K-Line/K-Line by Lionel steam sound board for the A5 switcher. Can't find any documentation on it, but I suspect 2 connections are for the speaker, 2 for power, and 1 for a 'cherry switch".

It would be helpful if you could post a picture of the top side that clearly shows any lettering or markings, e.g., +/-, on the board. Lionel has a pic in their parts listing, but the lettering is not readable.

Your best bet might be to contact Brasseur Trains, one of the forum sponsors, traindoctor.com as they deal in a lot of K-line product and are knowledgeable about much of the K-line parts.

Beyond that you might change your post to be something like "K-line A5 tender help" as that is where the board was originally used.  Someone on here probably has one they would be willing to open up and could then tell you exactly how it is hooked up.

Educated guess: Single wire in the upper left corner is power input from the P/U roller. The two red wires are for the speaker. And the yellow and black (blue?) wires are for the volumn control. Return path is from the corner mounting hole pads, through the scews, to the chassis.

Let us know what the folks at the TrainDoctor say.

Thanks for your educated guess! Sounds great to me but I'll wait to hear from the Train Doctor.

That's correct. Every discription I could find since my first post thinking one of the wires could be for a 'cherry switch' calls it an "A5 Whistle Board". Which is why my "educated guess" dropped 'cherry switch' for power/speaker/volumn control.

Not sure what you have there Rege.  Your board is missing the sound IC and associated electronics. Here is a couple of pictures from my whistle only K-line

Anheuser-Busch A-5 0-4-0. The wiring is also different, like there is no jumpers on the back of the board. Mine has etched in the board 'MDK O74, The same board as yours. It has only 4 wires, 2 power and 2 speaker. No volume control on this.

Maybe your board is for lighting only, or it was never completed at the factory.

The picture on Lionel's website shows the complete circuit board for 50.00

By chance did you purchase yours from Brassuers?
