pellet units

I just took a 675 apart because it was not smoking. it had a pellet unit and when I looked at it it looks like the wiring is intact so I don't know what could be wrong. it had some padding that was all messed up and I took that out and checked the air passage and it seems to be working ok. how can I check to see if the unit is heating up, where can I get more of that batting that was in the bottom of the unit and is there a substute I can use. oh yeah, the little piston seems to not push a lot of air is there a way to increase the push of the air like making the unit tighter or something like that??????? anyone ever make a video on this subject?
