you know I never really cared for the look of this streamlined locomotive. Turner Classic Movies had Broadway Limited on the other day, and today I finally got to watch it. Seeing 3768 (renumbered 3763 for the movie) in action (with a lot of other Pennsy engines and rolling stock) I have to admit it's starting to grow on me. I'll have to start watching for a forlorn boiler shell so I can make up a true Pacific.

I agree, that's a very good looking train.

I use a K-Line semi-scale Pennsylvania Torpedo to pull my Lionel Classics Rail Chief streamliner set. Lionel originally intended the set to be run behind a 700E, but to my eye the 700E is way too big for those cars and the semi-scale Torpedo is just right. The tuscan color of the K-Line Torpedo isn't a great match for the maroon of the Rail Chief, but it's OK. I also have a K-Line semi-scale Dreyfuss that I'm planning to repaint to go with the Rail Chief. I'm thinking of doing it in black or dark gunmetal with maroon on the tender top, cab roof, and skyline casing.
