Here. Here. Could not have said it better. If your posting items for sale, one good picture can make a quick sale.

Really enjoy the layout shots.

And if your trying to explain a process/ or show your work/ nothing beats a picture.

I agree with you, however, no more of the "super sized" cartoon critters (Please!).         

There's only two things worse than no photo in a, "For Sale" listing. 1) A copy of manufacture's depiction. 2) A link referring viewer to a manufacture's sight.

When you post, don't go overboard. The size of your photo(s) or video takes of server space. 

Popi, I'm so glad you posted this!  I couldn't agree more.  I've been thinking the same exact thing for a long time but never thought to start a thread about it. 

And while we're at it, IMO what's even worse is a For Sale post with no pictures and no description of the condition of the item(s) up for sale.  Sometimes there's not even basic info like whether it's new or used!

A potential buyer should not have to contact the seller (either via a reply to the post or a separate email) to ask for a description of the product when pictures and a few extra words in the ad can do the trick.  No pictures and no description equals no interest from me!

I agree. Want to see the pictures. Here is a picture just because.

I've noticed an up tick in For sale posts that either have no picture, no price, no item number (example...Lionel NYC boxcar) and while I agree that you can ask any price for an item some seem to be trying to recoup their cost on the item even tho it can be had elsewhere cheaper here and on other venues (Ebay, dealers and the like). I just keep looking if any of these apply to an item even if it's something I really like.

I wish that for sale posts would start with the words "For Sale" or "FS".  This way I wouldn't be looking at posts where I have no interest in buying the item.

I have no problem with sellers asking retail or higher prices for an item.  Sometimes the forum may be the only place to purchase an item.  Buyers can't always expect a deal when they shop.  Sellers can post any price that they wish and buyers can pass on the item if they don't like the price.

I'm thinking what Joe Barker means is that it would help if you are only looking at the "Recent Posts" on the right hand side of the page and not specifically in the For Sale forum.

Just my opinion but, they are becoming VERY annoying, especially when they have NOTHING to do with the subject being discussed.

I would agree with one exception. If a seller on the OGR Board has a "sealed" new in box unit, I would not open it to accommodate a photo for a possible would be buyer.

I never sell or offer to sell anything for what I paid for it.  And, I lose money on EVERYTHING I sell.  But, I make up for it in sheer volume.  I learned economics in D.C. 

Pictures rule when its a for sale item, OneREAL ADDED BONUS especially when trying to move an engine isVIDEO. Really nice when you can see all the features demonstrated !!  Lastly when selling an MTH Proto it also helps to get the ODOMETER  and Mileage readings from DCS

No Photo No sale. I just wish that when someone has a lot of items for sale that they delete the ones that are sold. I just went through 50 or so Photos of a listing and only 10 items are still for sale. If you take the time to add SOLD, well then go one step more and delete the photo. I don't care that it is sold I only want to know what is for sale and I don't have to view all your trains that are now sold!!!

The last time I tried to delete a photo I couldn't figure out how to do it. Could someone enlighten me, please?

John H, I do not know how to remove a picture, so I just make it very, very small.

At the bottom of your post on the right hand side there is a row of icons, click on the one that looks like a pencil on a piece of paper, if you hover over it it will say EDIT. Click on it and it will take you to a page that allows you to change your post. Go down to the picture you want to remove and right click on it. It will highlight it and give you a list of options, go down to delete and left click on it to remove it.

Or use the "backspace" on your keyboard after highlighting. Either way works.

Steve Martin used to have a pill for this purpose.  Very, very small.
