The other day I was running my 2012 Polar Express set on its loop of FasTrack and I was watching it run around after I had done some work on it. I no longer want it to be all by it self and I finally have decided to challenge myself to finally build a layout. I have always been planning but never getting past the planning stage. My Grandfather has asked me every time he and my Grandmother come for Christmas to see the layout. So I have set a goal to get a layout built so I can run my PE set and my other equipment.

I would stick with O-27 but I want to run bigger equipment so I have chosen to go a bit bigger and go with 4 X 8 Ft. I might add some inches to the sides but would prefer not go much bigger due to space. I also want to stay with tubular track. I do like some of the new track but want to keep cost down. The outside loop will be O-42 to run my PE set on that loop.

O-31 on the inside loop or O-36 if it would fit or a mix of both. I'm not a huge fan of switching so there will only be the one siding. I want to keep it simple to keep maintenance down and to stay with in a budget.

I have been playing around with SCARM the plan is not perfect but still learning how to use it.

Update: Thanks to ACE I updated the plan to all tubular track and not a mix of track. Working on a list of buildings I would like on the layout.

That's a good track plan for the space you have and what you want to accomplish.  Since you're not a fan of switching do you presently own something to place on the siding?  If not and you have nothing in mind to acquire, perhaps do away with it and allot the space to a scenic element?

I have a idea to use that spur for a freight platform perhaps

Khayden, your SCARM plan has a mix of old tubular, Ross and Atlas track parts. Here is a similar version with all tubular and no "custom cuts", easily adapted if you want a single reversing track or spurs in different places. Note that you need to allow space for the switch machines on older O22 switches.
