Polar Express Kit

so i would like to surprise my son and new granddaughter with a Polar Express O gauge set for their tree.

What year is the best ( and I mean closest to sounding and looking like post war?) no remote, in a perfect world everything included, track, transformer, etc...... reading lots of stuff, need to get to the point and I know you guys are good

I have lots of post war stuff, and will be willing to trade if the deal is right..

I am just picking this hobby back up after 40 or 50 years or so
