Going through boxes in my train room today, I came across these. While I prefer postwar lionel, this was nice to find again digging through my hoard of boxes.

That is some beautiful equipment from the Gilbert era of Pre War American Flyer trains. It was obviously well cared for. Do you know the history of the set?
Here is a passenger set from approximately the same era.

Two beautiful 3/16 "O" sets! Hopefully, they run as well as they look. I have the K-5 set and operate conventionally, using a CAB1. That beautiful worm drive motor runs "as smooth as silk." Keep it clean and well lubed and it will last forever. Have fun!
I agree with what has been said, I love that prewar 3/16ths O Flyer. I also have a small pile of 3/16ths O locos and cars. Unfortunately, none of mine are as nice as Greg's! But they work for me and I keep my eye out for them as well.

it does look like there is some repainting, but the nice part is having all the locomotive wheels intact. that is rare with prewar Gilbert Flyer.

Some nice examples of 3/16ths K5s in this thread! I have a smoke-in-tender 312, and like its 3/16ths cousin, it is a handsome engine.

Beautiful set Greg, Ive just begun the use around 3/16 O Gauge. Gilbert Flyer made some pretty interesting sets!

i'm kind of doubting that A.C. would make a Junkers. Steelcraft did produce a Ford Tri-Motor, but i have a feeling the model in the picture is Marklin.
