I am looking to change the sound files in some of my diesels due to repaints. I am looking for Pennsylvania sound files. Can I use 3Vlt sound files or must I use 5Vlt files? If 5Vlt files are required why aren't there any on the MTH website other than for electrics? Any help is appreciated.

You can get a sound file for any engine that has been produced.  If it's not on the site, ask MTH to supply it.

Does this include the branded R-T-R sets that MTH no longer holds the license to produce?

I have a John Deere 4-6-0 steam engine that has one the best whistle sounds I have ever heard come out of an MTH tender.

Discussed before, go to service link then protosound link and type in your search.

I believe this sound file is for a 5 volt board.

I did inquire with MTH a while back (couple years ago  I think) to see if a 3 volt version would be available but never received a definitive answer. I just assumed that because newer, generic files for this model are available that the JD specific sound set wouldn't be updated to 3 volt.  Right now it's not a big deal as my 5 volt boards are working great and I don't anticipate any failures soon.

When the need arises, I'll try MTH again. I am sure they would find a way to accommodate my need.

Based on MTH web site this engine was never made with a 5V board.  So they do not have a 5V sound file, just the 3V.   So I can see the reluctance of making a custom sound file just for you.  So the engine your modifying is not an H10-44?  Or did you back fit a 5V board into one of the older conventional models?  G
