I have an inner loop of track that will only work with PS3 engines.  The PS2 engines work on another track I have so I know they will operate. When I put the PS2 on the inner loop the remote complains, check track and the engine is not on the track.

Sorry if this has been previously answered.

The following would be h helpful:

  • What version of DCS are you using?
  • What model (Rev) is the TIU?
  • Which TIU channel is powering the problem loop? Is it the same as for loops where the PS2 engines work OK? If not , what TIU channels re powering other loops?
  • How is the TIU powered, via Fixed Input #1 or the Ext.Power port?
  • Exactly what are you attempting to do with the PS2 engines and exactly what happens when you do so?
  • Is it one PS2 engine or more than one that has the problem?
  • When you put the PS2 engine on the problem track, does it have lights and sounds as soon as power is applied or does it stay dark and silent? If it's bright and noisy, try reversing the wires between the TIU channel output and the track.

Version 4.2

Rev L

Fixed voltage in1 powered with Lionel 180w brick. The other loops are powered by the two variable inputs powered by a Z4000

I am attempting to run the PS2s but I am getting the check track/train not on track messages

i have tried 2 PS2s and both were failures

it stays dark and soundless

i did try swapping TIU channels

Tell us, step-by-step, exactly what you are attempting to do with the PS2 engines and exactly what happens when you do so.

Make it a dialog, i.e., what you do and with what DCS responds.

Further:

  • Also, which channel has the problem?
  • What happened when you swapped channels? Did the problem move to the other channel or stay where it was?
  • How are you powering the TIU when you use the variable channels?

Solved. I started getting errors on other parts of my track besides the interloop. I had a MTH terminal block screwed down. I had run the wiring for the interloop underneath the terminal block. When I took the wire out from underneath the terminal block all the problems disappeared. I still don't understand why PS3 engines worked while PS2 engines failed. All's well that ends well.
