Not sure how to proceed getting the electro off? I have removed the pilot and loosened (but not removed) the truck plate. I can remove the coupler but that leaves loose wires going up through the truck plate into the shell that could short out. How to remove the shell to get at those wires mystifies me. Any guidance on how to get that shell off? Product is 6-34645 CN F3A Legacy.

Has anyone done this?

There's 6 screws that hold the shell on. 2 front, 2 rear, and 2 behind (maybe in front) of the fuel tank. You have to turn the trucks to the side to get to those screws. The big decision is whether to body mount the pilot or retain the rotating pilot and just mount the coupler to the pilot. Depends on the curve you want to run on, but if you're only doing it to the lead unit, then it don't matter I guess

If you dont want to remove the shell, cut those wires and cover the ends with shrink tube. Then stuff them up inside.

If you do take the shell off, give the smoke unit a tune up since it's exposed right there
