Question about Selling

I suggest going to eBay and searching MTH completed listings for these locomotives.  That will tell you what some of them recently sold for.  Sales prices will be green in color on the listing.

Bob, thanks. That's actually the first thing I did. But I didn't see any sales in the archives similar to these two locomotives. Thinking folks here might have some idea. I suppose I could just list them and roll the dice. But not sure I would want to sell so just evaluating at this point. 

Before you list on EBay, one thing to consider is your EBay profile. Folks who do not have a history with good feedback tend to get significantly lower prices than those with a good history. It does not seem to matter whether the feedback is for buying or selling.

So ... back on topic - is there a general rule of thumb on what price to expect?  Does age, condition, miles on odometer decide?  Or do I just take into account MSRP and then knock off some percent for a ballpark of these things might sell for, or ...?  Thanks. 

I looked for completed listings too. Modified search for 

"Premier" "PS-2" "J", got a couple of hits. No joy on the Mohawk.

A 20-3363-1 sold on the DASH site for $422 a couple of weeks ago.

The $400 sake price range is a huge hit!  I think MSRP was around $1,100 and I probably paid not too far off!  Yikes. Well, gotta think hard about what to do ...

I generally look for used stuff about 1/2 of the MSRP, so the $400 isn't that far off.

Unfortunately PJB trains don't hold their value unless it is something very rare. I check prices on some of my stuff, for example the Lionel B-6 switcher i bought many years ago. I paid 400.00 for it and i have seen them sell for less than 100.00. I never have bought trains to make money on them. I buy them because i love them and this hobby. My advice would be to keep them, you never know when you will need another engine if one goes down.

Why not just sell it here on OGR forum for sale?Come up with half of msrp like John said.Always remember,things are only worth what somebody is willing to pay for them.Good luck.Nick
