Okay, I know the plug has to be in the outlet. I have 14v and 10v accessory connections on the MTH Z4K. The 14 v is being used by the Lionel TMCC Legacy base for the command fastrack switches. I don't know if the 10v is enough to light building accessories. So I will use my MTH Z1000 (14v accessory output) which is not being used for anything else. But I need to know how to connect all the buildings to the power source. I have Railking buildings (country house, 2 row houses, 1 country freight house, and switch tower),  Lionel structures are #132 station, #256 freight station, four #2256 station platforms, and a #395 floodlight tower and soon to be delivered a Riverleaf Models building. Probably will be making a few building purchases in the future. My Woodland Scenics are on the Just Plug system. My questions are:

  • Can the different manufacturers buildings be used in one set up?
  • What gauge wire is used for the MTH buildings, Lionel structures and Riverleaf Model structures?
  • Should I use terminal blocks (I have 2 unused 12 port MTH ones) at the locations where the buildings are clustered, then connect the strips to a buss wiring system which connects to the Z1000 14v output?
  • What's the wattage limit on the light bulbs for this set up?
  • What are good electrical connectors for this? I need to extend the MTH building wires to the terminal blocks, or if it's suggested, directly to the buss wiring.

Your advice is appreciated. Thank you, Fred in New Hope.
