Just curios, does anyone make a sound board (or something I could use from another engine) that could be used in a prewar standard gauge  of o gauge engine (electric type engine type not steam) running conventional power.
Would like the sound board to have a simple whistle/bell and a engine whine that is changes in volume/whine that is controlled by the amount of power applied to the engine.
Know that real estate my be a problem on O-gauge and that a battery (?) may be used when there is no track voltage.

Perhaps a bit off the subject, but I am looking for an answer, a simple answer if there is one, to a question I've had for a while.  I have strictly pre-war tinplate, and have never had any of the new stuff with sound and remote control.  Recently, I've gotten intrigued by  the MTH  263E....but I keep seeing that it has "Proto-sound" and I don't see anything saying it would run fine with just regular old transformer connected to the track with a lockon.  So my question:  will it?

Proto-Sound, Proto-Sound 2 & Proto-Sound 3 will run in conventional mode with most transformers. You will get smoke & sounds, but not all the goodies.
