Hi everyone,

This past Saturday I ventured out with some friends to chase R&N #425 pulling the year's first autumn leaf special from Port Clinton to Jim Thorpe. We chased the train for two hours towards Jim Thorpe then rode a 45 minute Lehigh Gorge train in the cab of an R&N GP30 #2530. After that excellent ride in the beautiful scenery of the Lehigh Valley, my friends and I preceded out on the road again to chase #425 on the return trip home. Attached are some pictures and video from my adventures. Be sure to turn the volume up on the video to hear this locomotive pound its way up the various grades, some of which reaching 2%!

Thank you for sharing these great  pictures. My family frequents Jim Thorpe, but have not taken the trains.

Yes, this RR is run first class. Every car has seen great maintenance and care . No rides, but I did bump into Rich Melvin and Andy having a chat at Jim Thorpe station. Both representing quality railroading.

So--a bonus, that I was entertained with 2 engines that day.

Thanks again

Yes you were! Unfortunately, I did not get into railfanning as a hobby until the winter of 2015-2016 so I missed out on a lot of those great 765 trips out of Steamtown and on the R&N.

Be sure to check out these autumn leaf trips next year. They are spectacular!
