Maybe not with the ease of an 18v. I will gladly sacrifice a little power. For lightweight. Especially when your under the layout doing something like installing Tortoise switch machines.

I agree with the 12v being plenty powerful. My Dewalt 12v Max Lithium has done everything my old worn out 14.4v or 18v would do. It's plenty powerful for benchwork, train layouts, etc. And as you say your arm will thank you for it after a long day of using it. It's very light weight and comfortable to use.
