My original 6x9 (visible on the control panel) had too many first time errors to fix so I decided to tear it out and start over. The main feature of both the old and new layouts allows for two trains to run at the same time. I have a house full of kids so letting everyone have their turn, as quickly as possible, is a must. I also enjoy PW style accessories and the redo will allow additions like the coal loader that simply wouldn't fit on the previous layout. (Sure eats up a lot of real estate.) I have plans to add barrel loaders and more. The redesign will incorporate the horse and cattle corals from the previous layout and will add a milk car platform.

The outside loop is O-42, the passing siding is O-31 and the inner figure 8 is O-27. The new track plan is visible on a sheet of paper in the third photo. Conventional control only.

Since the main layout is down for a while, I put together a little loop in my office to give us something to do in the mean time. Here's a little video I call "Getting the Most from My Lionel Layout."
