Repair or replace Diaphragm on Lionel Vista Dome | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I have a Lionel 6-25198 Pennsylvania Vista Dome. One diaphragm is completely missing and the other is pretty tired.

The Lionel part number for the replacements is 6209041010, which is of course unavailable.

Any body know where I might find some or have a suggested method for making something to fit.
Or even an alternate part number that might be available.

Those cars never came with diaphragms, nor was that style ever designed to have them. It looks like someone modified them post-production.

Well look at that, that certainly explains alot. That never occurred to me honestly. Now that I look at them closely you are absolutely correct. I had always wondered why Lionel had made packages that needed to be modified for them to fit. I can not remember how I found that part number, it was a while ago, but I remember it was difficult to find the number. dup! funny how something can be right in front of me and I dont see it.

Any way, they do fit good and look nice ( on the other cars) any suggestions for replacements?

Precision Scale makes some nice rubber ones, but they are around $10+ per pair.
