Happy Thanksgivings Day! And Good Morning!!
Take a ride on the Discovery Channel TV show: Railroad Alaska - Real Time Ride (ya but recorded on a different day) it is now playing, this is nationwide program.

"A five-hour, real-time train ride through Alaska's frozen wilderness on board the Alaska Railroad provides the sights and sounds, mile by mile, of an epic journey through America's frozen frontier."

This features no acting or music, just a ride through a wide lens camera from a seat in locomotive No. 4325 and 4326, plus a few other cameras, from Talkeetna to Healy. Go along on this quiet ride (just the hum of the diesel electric generators and real track sounds, traveling through the wilds of Alaska. Might be just the right alternative TV show to have on while preparing and sharing your Thanksgiving Feast! Eastern time it started at 9 AM (5 AM Alaska Time) goes to 2 PM (10 AM AST) and then repeats 2 to 7 PM (10AM to 3 PM AST).

My wife finds this is really boring. She changed the channel to watch parades and news type morning shows. I was able to tune it in again while she was out of the room. Most interesting when they have rare RR crossings, great horn! Since I was able to see the restart at 10 AM AST their was a bit of activity of the conductor. I took a couple pictures of the train crossing the Talkeetna River bridge leaving Talkeetna, Alaska. I'll check them and if the are worthy to post, I'll upload them.

I had it on in the morning and even I got bored. Later, I remembered I have surround sound. Duh. I turned it on and cranked it up. It made even the visual scene more exciting. You can hear the diesels cranking up and the sounds of the effort of the train on the cold rails.

I hit record and will watch again when I'm alone. I hate to hear "turn that down!"

It reminds me of my youth.

Decided to record it and edit out all the commercials before watching. Net program time is 3 hours and 32 minutes out of the 5 hour long block. First commercial break was 12 minutes in and subsequent breaks were 5 minutes apart with approximately 2 minutes of commercials per break.

Also, it is not "real-time" as there are jumps in continuity at each commercial break.

I'll watch it when I'm not so tired. Right now I wouldn't get 15 minutes into it before I zoned out.

Good move Nick, that is the way to enjoy it! About 30 min into 2nd showing I set my DVR then headed to the family Holiday Feast (where there was not cable channel). Now I am fast forwarding (triple or quadruple time) through the commercials, and double timing through some straights. My son & his wife made the trip from Anchorage to Denali National Park in October, they are looking forward to seeing this video.
