Good morning Jarod, when my wife and two boys lived in Clearfield (21 years) we had a good relationship with Corman.

The gentlemen in charge in Clearfield is a great guy. My wife took her Cub Scout pack down to the Clearfield yard and they were given a full hands on tour. I made sure I was home for this !!!!!!

At Christmas time my wife which is an excellent baker would take down a large plate of cookies, nut roll, and poppyseed roll. "Brownie points in a way"

We had a base scanner tuned into their channel and the road dispatcher at that time had quite a sense of humor and always had some good comebacks and one liners, a bit laid back compared to NS.

I help with a passenger excursion that Corman put on called "Clearfield Community Charities Autumn Foliage Train Excursion". The date was October 19, 28 2002.

My wife and I was invited to the first meeting with the county commissioners and the commissioners at that time thought it was a losing proposition.

Tickets went on sell 2 weeks later and sold out by the end of the week. I never did so much studying since I was out of high school trying learn everything about Clearfield and the surrounding areas.

I did all of this and had cheat sheets made up and don't think I was asked three questions about the subject. Everybody young and old were just going for a train ride to have a good time !!!!!

On October 29 2002 they brought a train in Sunday night that was headed by Amtrak Genesis engine and behind it was several private coach's.

I remember listening to the train crews talking back and forth as they eased the coach thru the tunnels north of Clearfield.

We went down to the yard that evening and then across town as this train came thru the Clearfield Yard and then parked on the west side of town.

The following morning around 9:00am they headed out of town.

I have I complete box of pictures of just RJ Corman engine pictures in different locations around the Clearfield Area. When we moved to Indiana Pa we kind of lost touch with the personal.

I pass their trucks on the road and still give them a friendly wave.

Mark,  that's awesome!  I remember the excursion,  I was on it to Karthaus.  Haha.  I wish they would have kept that excursion going,  it would have done well!  I never knew AMTRAK brought the cars in,  that's pretty cool.  Tim Pots was and still is the train master I believe,  I guess we are some how distantly related I believe.  I was interviewed a few times for a conductor but the money wasn't enough do I stated in telecommunications, until July of 14.  I then took the job I'm at now as an electrician for Norfolk Southern out of Altoona.

I'm  hoping the ethonal plant keeps them busy,  without coal it's slow.  I have a few friends who are and was a engineer for them,  the one is now a track Forman.

They are a neat little railroad,  and I was a big conrail fan but lately I have been buying locomotives and hopper cars and having them repainted.  I hope to have all 9 of the SD40-2's soon in my growing collection!  If you are ever in the area of Philipsburg and want to see the layout send me a email at jarrod1719@comcast.net.  I'd be more than happy to show you the 40'x16' layout some time!

Well I'm back at it,  build more cars for my Corman train.  These are being done for me,  I have 1 SD40T, received_1700487870276417received_1705119099813294 6 hoppers,  8 gondolas,  4 bulkhead and 4-6 grain cars being painted.  I will update when the cars arrive,  for now here's a picture of the hoppers,  they are not fully competed yet but soon will be.

Who is doing the cars for you?? Does he do painting for others too.................Paul

Hi Paul,

The folks at CMR Products are painting these for me.  They are very good on detail and actually print on the cars.  Which I find pretty awesome.  They will do what ever you want and if you want a prototypical locomotive,  I highly recommend them.  I'll try and add pics of the SD40T.

Nice tunnel motor, I'm sure glad they are putting the Corman name out there. I have a custom tunnel motor, everything I run in MTH, Which I pick up 2 of their new 40's Friday. Definitely beautiful locomotives.

Thank you NS1719, I Really love the RJ Corman Paint Scheme and have wanted a Lionel Legacy version for many years. So, when I opened the 2017 Lionel Signature Volumne 1 catalog, Wow, there it was, an SD40-2, RJ Corman Diesel....So, I ordered one, almost 2 years ago. I will say, the colors are way off, compared to the pictures of the Real RJ Corman pictured above.  Briansilvermustang posted pictures on another thread of the RJ Corman F Units. I think RJ Corman is a great Railroad Company, great management....Great Post...Happy Railroading. By the way, I really like your layout....D971996A-CF6B-44A5-A423-024D8EAA7D9C
