I have seen them on a Lionel demonstration of new steam engines.  I want a set, or however they are sold. I have bought several older engines and I know this will make it so much easier to test and run.  I would think that anyone who repairs equipment would have them, and that at least one of the train makers would offer them.  Would appreciate any help I can get.

Thank you and God bless.

Thank you all so much.  Living on the coast, in a very small town, 90 miles from the nearest real hobby shop, it is terrific to have such a resorce as you.  I'm new to this hobby, saw a add on Ebay for an O gauge engine that looked simular to one I had in the late 40's.  Just bid on it, a lark, couldn't believe I got it.  This winter my lady friend and a buddy are going to start the layout here in my lower floor.  It sure gets in your blood in a hurry, and I have so many questions.  I could go on for pages, living alone does that.  I love big steamers, already have a Big Boy, saw 4014 being moved. All the big UP, 9000 class and such, an SF Texas, SP cab forward, 4449, and finally found a 3751 for under a K.  MY great grandfather worked for the SF for 47y 5m, retired in 1940 as engineer on the San Diegan, 50y total service.  Dad fired on the SF all during the 40's and early 50's.  Spent a lot of time around the San Bernardino, and Colton yards as a kid, even got to ride with dad on his engine once in a while.  Wouldn't happen now.

Time to sign off, probably sad for you but I will be back asking questions, got a lot of them.

God bless you all.

Ron,

The more I look at your stand, the more I know I don't know anything.  I see the 8 sets of rollers, and I assume the copper strip is to make like a 3rd rail.  It looks as though you are using a 1 by 6 as the base, but what are the rollers resting in?  I'm 75, and my eyes aren't the greatest.  The red item on the end, is it how you get power to the unit.  I would like to have a separate power source, how big of a trans-former do I need.  I can tell that this wasn't thrown together, you did alot of planning and shows a great deal of knowing what the heck you are doing, and what you wanted out of it.  If there are secrets, I understand.  Everyone should have to put in some sweat equity, it makes the satisfaction of doing a great job so much better.

Thanks again.  God bless.

I've been wanting to get a set of rollers for quite awhile and have been following the postings on these threads. I decided on the Bachrus rollers and they arrived yesterday. Wonderful! Extremely well built, very stable and easy to manipulate. Brain at Bachrus was very helpful in my decision making process.  Before they came, I built a couple of track stands for them.....one short for diesels etc and one long one. I decided to add circuit protection to them like I use for my track transformer power.......a 5 amp breaker and a TVS diode, so I don't fry anything while it's on the stand. I took some pictures of the setup and included them below (if all goes well with the downloads).
