I would like to wire direct to the joiners on my 2 rail track an ac to dc supply(
) for some overhead signal lights. The location would be very difficult to run wires from another source. I am using a Z1000 brick running all PS3 and PS2 using REV L.

I'd add a choke anyways...just for good luck 
I mean those are the same Bucks that are installed in passenger cars for Led lighting and I always add a choke.
I always add the 22uh choke when I connect a power supply to the tracks, insures I won't affect the DCS signal.
Is the choke wired in across the ac inputs at the board?
The choke is wired in series with one of the power leads, not across the power.
Thanks..i noticed several types of chokes from pot to resistor shape. What is your preference?

I pick them based on current rating, depending on the specific use. The lower current ratings are smaller and cheaper, so for stuff like LED lighting in passenger cars and Fastrack switches, I use a 250ma rated one. For locomotives, I use a 5.7A rating.
