Pity the poor tender: Running behind most of the time, often ignored by photographers, playing second banana to that thing in front that has all the interesting sights and sounds...

Yet without them, our hallowed steam locomotives would be silent and go nowhere.

So, here's a tribute to the unsung hero of steam locomotives in no particular order: The Tender---

Speaking of Tenders:  I just cut apart 2 Hudson and 1 K5 tenders (1 K5 broke) and epoxied the front of the Hudson to the back of the K5 and wella, A Reading T-1 scale tender.  Still need a bottom (which I will probably make of plastic, a repaint, the trucks (most likely American Models) and decals(?).

After I repaint the Polar Express to 2100 (maybe even give her 4 wheel pilot truck), I will use modified tender for an auxiliary for the Rambles.

I'll start taking photos, by the way is it difficult to post?

Francine

I am a big fan of a well turned out Tender, too.

My wife thinks I'm a little nuts (Big surprise there!) because it bugs me whenever I see a train set on display with the Tender either behind the locomotive backwards, i.e. with coal or fuel bunker facing away from the loco, or with the only Tender elsewhere in the train and not right behind the loco.

This often occurs when a display is done by someone not connected to the hobby, such as in a holiday store window, in a restaurant or on a fireplace mantle.  To my wife's chagrin, I usually try to "fix" the situation if I can.

Regarding Photos:

I have photo question for Mark or anyone else who has the answer:

I find when I upload photos to the forum that if I have edited a photo, including turning upright a photo that I took with the camera sidewise, the photo file which is edited and upright on my device shows up in its original unedited and sidewise position in the post.  I realize there is a technical reason for this and that this is not unique to the O Gauge Forum, but usually there is a way to "correct" the photo back to the way I want it before finalizing the post.

So far I have resorted to removing any photos that didn't upload correctly, but I can't believe that all the great photos posted on this forum were taken only with the camera or phone in one upright position.  I haven't been able to find the answer in any of the Help postings on this forum.

Am I missing something?

Thanks.

Alan
