Most likely "fantasy" but cool anyway. Could it be based on any prototype? I would like to see an O gauge manufacturer make this.

Have you actually seen it or just a picture? Is it a wind-up, a static toy, another gauge model? It is very cool looking. Who knew the A.T.&S.F. had an electrified division?

No I have not seen it. I just Googled Santa Fe and browsed the "image" listing and up came this fantastic Santa Fe electrified commuter locomotive. I don't know for sure, but it is either battery or friction (floor) operation. I really like the looks of it, especially the top cab. What a neat idea!

It's a Japanese prototype loco.....and looks to be a tin toy.....maybe early 1960's era. I have seen HO version of this loco.
Seems to be a Japanese prototype electric cab car. None of which probably were never painted Santa Fe.

It looks like a cross between a
Shark nose and a passenger car.
This looks like a Krauss-Maffie ML 4000 which was used by several railroads in the US. There are pictures of it on web. I know DRG had several of them. I have always wanted someone to offer it as a model. The site "Railroading in the North East" has several pictures of it.
Andrew Lawrence, do you have any information on that streamlined electric?? Is it current production by somebody?
No I don't, I did an image search for Santa Fe tin plate. Felt it fit along the same lines as the original poster. This is what it said in the description "48cm Yonezawa tinplate Santa Fe Railway Locomotive"

Quite right, specifically a Japanese National Rwy class 151 control trailer, first introduced [ as cl 26 ] in 1958, and until the advent of the "Bullet Train" the showcase model of JNR. The toy is actually a 'reasonably accurate' but shortened model -- correct window and door layout, etc.
The photo below is in a similar but dual voltage unit, taken at Sendai in 71.

Tiffany and coach joe: There is a similar one called "ATC Tin Friction Santa Fe Speed Train 1959" up for auction you-know-where with a Buy It Now price of $75. At 12" long, it seems like an enterprising soul could motorize it for O-gauge use!
