Saying goodbye to conventional

If you get a TPC300 or TPC400  and hook that up to conventional level you would be able to still run your conventional when you wanted. ( you need one per loop and isolate your loops. ) That way you can run your command control and conventional on the same track ( not together )

I'm thinking he forgot a comma after the Nakamichi MI01 but what he needs one for I don't know

Eric's Trains did a video blurb on that thing. Stuck it in a box car and played different sounds from his phone over bluetooth. Xmas music, station sounds, crew talk n the like, whatever you want.  Very cheap if I remember correctly.  Yup, nothing to do with CC.

Yikes, sorry I copied and pasted the wrong line, I meant to say I ordered the Lionel 6-37147 command set. OK with that fixed now back to my original question. Besides the power houses and the 6-37147 command set what else would I need to run assuming running in command only and no conventional locos?

Sorry guys, that name of an MP3 Player had abosultely nothing to do with my question. Sorry I copied and pasted from the wrong web page. What I meant to paste was 6-37147 command set. OK so let me try the question again. I am trying to convert my conventional layout to TMCC and have two 180 watt power houses. I just ordered the 6-37147 command set. What else will I need to run in command mode only? Also what should I know about setting it up?

 Running strictly command is so much easier and I think you 'll have everything you need.    The command base must be plugged into a  properly grounded  wall outlet (3 prongs)  .  Get your 180 power supplies in phase and you're good to go....One wire from the base to an outside rail...That's about it.

Tips??? if you run into trouble post it on the forum. there's a whole section for TMCC and some very knowledgeable Lionel guys. 

A modest proposal ...

Consider buying a Lionel CAB-1L (instead of a CAB-1).  A CAB-1L builds-in several LEGACY features, so it can "talk" to some of the features of LEGACY-equipped locos.  However, a CAB-1 device will also "talk" to a Legacy-equipped loco, but it can address only the most-commonly-used features.

The add'l cost of a CAB-IL is worth it for use on a layout that is oriented to TMCC/Legacy by intention.

A CAB-2 is another option and a big leap forward. It's pricey, but it will "talk" to every LEGACY feature -- including ones you may never need or use.  High-tech operators can't seem to get enough of that technology, and Lionel keeps extending the boundaries of the system.

Perhaps the next level of emerging technology will be a brain wave sensor hat that converts your dreams about model trains through a neural network into commands that run your railroad neurologically while you sleep - with dream-based feedback so you can '"see" and enjoy the ride.

Cab1L is what he is talking about, he just didn't put the L on it. as 6-37147 is cab 1L
