Scale GE 44 Ton PS3

She is done.  There are a few paint touch ups.  This model is geared so low that it just creeps along.  PS3 was definitely the way to go with all of the bells and whistles.

Nice job, Dave.  Looking forward to seeing it on your showroom layout.  BUT, wouldn't you all like to see a 45 ton version of the center cab loco?  The one with the side rods?  Those are so neat to see, churning along the right of way, with those little side rods flailing long the way!  We had one out in East Troy, which we used to call the "Orange Clank". referring to the sounds that those side rods made as it waddled along it's way.

 

Too bad that MTH didn't choose one of those to make a model of.

The Turtle Creek engine and caboose look great!  I agree with Malcolm, every loco needs a caboose!

 

    Dave fine work on the engine and caboose. I grew up in Turtle Creek and my first criminal record was for trespassing on URR tracks above Church Street I was 6 or 7 years old. I just loved sitting on the side of the tracks watching the coal trains going by waving to the engineers and they would wave back. I know someone who's son went to school with the owner of the TCRR son and apparently the owner was selling an engine and caboose. Me being the train nut that I am I was thinking of buying the caboose and the end of the TCRR line and leaving the caboose there and living in it. That never happened because I could never get any info. for contacting the owner of the TCRR. I hope you don't mind me talking about things in my life on here I only have A few friends and they are not to interested in train stuff. So its nice to talk about train stuff with other people that might be interested. Thanks Choo Choo Kenny

As a sidelight ,Aug 25 marked the last day that TCKR ran it's locomotives to Export.  It has moved it's locomotives to their Duquesne plant.  There is a new bike trail that will isolate the Export plant. Hence the move.
