I'm with you on this Bob. The lack of assorted bits and pieces would never be the end of my O scale pursuit. There way to much enjoyment to be had with what IS available.

Bob

I don't know why all of a sudden people are getting on me like bees on honey.
You read your facts wrong. I'm NOT leaving my railroads, just looking things over the best I know how&trying to make a logical decision as to what scale will serve me best with the products available to me.
I got into O scale which seemed  a promising hobby. I was backed by many,as I still am,for wanting new products not yet available. There were many times it seemed the only practical thing for me to do was leave O scale, but as I've said several times today, each time I was headed back to HO scale, someone stepped out with promising rays of hope for the things I lacked in O scale. It seems those rays of hope always get another door closed on them.
I hoped to simply magnify in a larger scale, all the things I considered important to me from HO.
Every modeler has things he needs to stay in whatever scale he chooses.I've talked to manufactuers as well as private individuals about the things I thought would be available already in O scale&improved because of their size, that I enjoy for my era of interest. I get 2 answers, that tie together:1). There's not enough interest among modelers&2).It's too expensive to make, for the sales that would be available, which are essentially the same answer with the words turned around.
Years back I was called a "rivot counter," by manufactuers, because I simply wanted the correct lettering schemes placed in the correct areas on the rolling stock I was buying. I wasn't getting my money's worth. I learned a lot from my 30 years in HO that can be applied to making things work in O scale today. But there are things I couldn't make then&can't make now, even as a so called "rivot counter."
I had time&an income back then, neither of which I have today. The trains have to pay for themselves. Sadly,O scale seemingly is at a stand still&with smaller homes&appartments,I'm sorry to say,I'm afraid it's seen it's finest hour according to manufactuer's viewpoints&many modelers. HO&N had no where to go but up or die when I started modeling, which in many areas they've gone as far as they can too&in other areas there's still room for growth.

Mike:
That's SUPER NICE trackwork&switchstands, but what I'm talking about are hand throws, like Caboose Industry makes with moving targets. Berkshire Valley have dummy ground throws with white metal targets that could be made to turn with some work, when the Caboose Industry ground throw is turned. It won't look so good, clumsy, but right now,I'd settle for it. I think in O scale,if bevel gears were made,I think a prototype stand could be made that works like the Prototypes.
Thanks Mike!

Alan: You just learned something else about O scale! O Scalers love to get down on people. Some will tell just goodbye so leave, some love to play childish games with disrespecting ones name or ID, I wonder if those people even go to church, or just what we call Sunday Christians. You never get treated this bad with the HO group. It a shame O scalers act like this.

Just some observations on postings lately.

Stephen

Alan:  I used a piece of brass wire to connect the switch stand to an Atlas switch motor.   Best wishes Mike

Without getting into that too closely, let me observe that the person most getting down in this thread is the original poster.  He has expressed extreme frustration that we, as a group, do not force our manufacturers to produce two obscure, specific items.  He has threatened to leave just because others will not accede to his desires.

I for one am blown away with the idea that a stupid coupler could cause such angst.

I'm still working on how "we" are supposed to do that and why it's our responsibility, too.  It's only very recent history that KD has offered anything more than the old 804/805 couplers (almost all that I use still...), and that broadening of product line has met with considerable approval.  However, change vs. inertia is slow on the best of days.
