Sent  an email to MTH, but thought I would post here too to make sure it is not something simple/stupid I have overlooked.

3 rail O SD70 under DCS control, PS3--Engine was running, no problems, then engine changed to a very high speed.

Shut system down, restarted--engine responds to all functions, but increasing throttle to 1, 4 second pause then engine takes off at a very high speed--will accelerate more if speed is increased, stops if speed set to 0.

Reset engine from DCS remote (factory reset)--no change

Reloaded software to engine (sound and chain files)-no change in behavior.

Other MTH engines (GP40, SW1500) work just fine.

Lionel fastrack, DCS system (5.0) with MTH power brick, DCS signal 10's.

System has been running fine, no changes occurred.

At this point, looking like a repair from MTH, but again, wanted to check and make sure I am not missing the obvious.

No loose connections.  Black/White striping looks new--bright white, black black.  Sensor appears to be solidly mounted--looks like it will head to MTH for repairs---I figure I should hear from them by Wednesday next week--Engine is packed in factory box and ready to go.  Nice thing is I have two other engines to run so all is good.

Was it shipped a long distance? It might have a connector out of place. I had a PS-2 engine that was acting up and I took it to an MTH repair shop in Miami FL and they fixed within 10 minutes or so, loose connector plug at the tach reader.

Will not be applicable for PS-3 since the connector is a single on with all outputs less motor.  So if it was loose, no lights, smoke, sounds on diesel etc....  G

Thanks for the information GGG! I am not that knowledgeable about the new PS-3 systems, so you are saying it is all or nothing then.
