I have a system installed that uses DC power to control the engines.  The engines are MTH with the Proto 1 electronics removed.  What I now need is a sound system that has prime mover sounds, and a ringing bell when the engine is in forward motion, and the same with the polarity reversed to make the engine backup.

Another company that you might be able to find something from is Digi-key, they make H.O. stuff, usually H.O. runs on DC.

If you want to use AC power all you would need to do is add a bridge rectifier to each engine that you took the PS-1 electronics out of. The bridge rectifier allows you to use AC power with DC can motors as the bridge rectifier blocks the AC fluctuations. You would need a 50 volt 6 amp bridge rectifier, the cost is around $5.00 a piece and one will do each engine you need.

And the answer is. -----------

two more questions......

does the prime mover have to throttle up and down or can it stay a constant rpm?

how many and what is the price point?

I have given this alot of consideration but this is not do-able under $25.  To get a better recording one would have to go on site and do a good digital file and edit.  Write some code, load some chips and layout a PCB.  Wish I could help more.
