Some cool vintage ads from our local paper.

Very very cool. I've got a couple clippings my dad made as a boy (including highlighted items he wanted) that I have with some postwar stuff he's given me.

This reminds me of the Hardware Store on Broad Street, in 

my Old Neighborhood, South Providence, Rhode Island.  Armand's

Hardware, the day after Thanksgiving Newspapaer Ads would

appear in the newspaper just like the one's above.

I grew up, more or less during the early 60's. So, I saw the last remnants of these type adds in places like hardware stores and Sears as well as some toy stores. I love these adds allot. They remind me of a time of innocence. Between trains and fire engines I was a typical kid with a love affair for both.

I don't remember seeing the ads but we didn't get the paper except for Sunday. I do remember pouring through the 'miscellaneous for sale' section of our classified for trains around Christmas however. There were a lot of them too!

I voraciously read the newspaper, comics first, from a very early age ((when in about

the fifth grade or earlier, and when teachers passed out the thick "reader", I would take it home, read it through the first night, and the teachers learned to let me sit in the back of the room and draw (I remember Christmas scenes) on the blackboard with colored chalk, while the rest of the kids were laboring through learning to read)).  But I don't remember seeing newspaper ads...BUT there were Western Auto and Sears catalogs, with lots of Marx!  (most of which I did not come to own in that period)

That's cool, Its to bad those are not todays prices.
