I have a little colliery on my layout as a setting for my Lionel postwar coal accessories. I have been trying to capture the "look and feel" of this 1905 picture of the breaker in Pittston, PA:
The space is tight, but I've been saving a place for one of the little tool shanties in the foreground. Not too challenging a project, so just to make things interesting I decided to build it using nothing but coffee-stirrer sticks. Here is the "craftsman's kit":
Cut, stain with ink/alcohol, and glue:
Millwork for the doors and windows:
Assemble:
Add a roof and weather:
