I was working on one of my pw locos and found one of the screws has a stripped head and I can't get it out.  What do forum members do when you run across this?  Is there a special tool to use or other options?  Thanks in advance for any replies, I going out to do some yard work for awhile.

If there is enough of the head sticking up to get a grip on it, the Engineer Screw Pliers is designed for that task. It is sold by Amazon and shipped direct from Japan. It comes in a couple of different sizes (you want the small one). The U.S. market version of the same tool is called a Vampliers, but it's cheaper to order it from Japan through Amazon. Here's a photo.

If the head is stripped on one of the collector mounting screws on a turbine, I suspect that the screw might also be stuck. Before trying too hard to remove the screw, I suggest trying to get a little PB Blaster or liquid wrench on the body of the screw.
I am not certain whether those mounting holes are blind, or if they go all the way through into the interior side of the chassis.

The screws on your turbine collector plate should be pan head. Often you can grab the edges with the tip of a pair of diagonal cutters, as Mike CT has already shown.
