I suspected Trainman would say he would be able to scratchbuild the transformer. The K-Line transformer would be a good one for someone who didn't want to scratchbuild. I agree, the insulators, disconnects, etcetera would be challenging. I have seen people use short strings of beads for insulators in smaller scales, but think the automotive fasteners provide a better representation in O.
The K-Line Tfrm is pretty good and not a bad size.
Modeling from the MTH unit, plus all the pictures I have should give me a good rendition. I've also purchased beads and sequins of different sizes to make the hanging insulators. I found some Japanese beads that are very consistently sized that should work. The Chinese ones that I bought varied in size and shape so much as to make them almost useless for my purposes. This project is still many months off. I've been working to finish the train station, then the engine house and maybe some city buildings and then the substation. So much to do and so little time.
