Now that we have a new generation of Super O users, are any of you experiencing roller wear(especially Super O Bob)? I am going back to Super O, my first love, after leaving O scale on Atlas O. I never had a problem before (1976 -1984) and hope to not have one now. BTW I have run trains on O27, Super O, O and Atlas O and in that order since a kid in 1958. My preference order is Super O, O, Atlas O then O27. Never tried T-Rail. Plenty of used Atlas O for sale

Super O bob will dispute that there is roller wear with this track Yes we do know each other.. I suspect a lot of that may be today's rollers are made from a different material and don't wear the same. When I worked at P & D we bought lots of Super O sets with rollers cut almost in half. So based on Bob's experience if your running today's trains maybe wear is not an issue.

Super O track even today still looks the best in 3R when painted and weathered.

As for roller ware, it’s in my myth list just like track cleaning and lubrication.

What was experienced back in the day, no longer applies.

PW Lionel is effected only mainly because of sparking. I ran MTH Subway sets on it for years, even doing 10 hr. – 3 day weekend train shows. Never seen any grooves

The only reason I trashed Super O was the rails corrode from the inside out and soldered center rail clips crack with time, causing poor DCS signal.

PW items ruin tube track black center rails on GG. It wipes out the black center rail and makes it rough from sparking.

I have used Super O track on my layout since the track was introduced in September, 1957. The only locomotive that I have changed the pickup rollers on is the 2340 GG1. The springs that hold down the roller assemblies to the center rail are the strongest of any locomotive that I have owned to date. If only Lionel was in better shape money wise in the latter 50s and could have made curve track in wider curves than 036. I would not have had to purchased other types of track to have wider curves. I still use Super 0 on my inside line while using Fast Track with 048 curves on my outside line.
