I just bought a new MTH GP-35 scale wheel 2 rail and went to change it over to high rail wheels 3 rail. I bought the MTH high rail kit 20-89008, but when I went to do the change over, all the scale wheel axles had the insulator on the same side of the axle (against the non drive gear wheel). According to the instructions two should be different. Am I missing something?

C&WV, you are correct. You are missing the proper wheel. I also changed my scale gp-35 to high rail wheels and ran into the same issue. I posted on this forum the same type of question also. I ended up calling MTH. The service guy that answers the phone for the techs didn't know much. I had a very hard time getting through to any tech. Always was put on hold then disconnected. This happened for 3 days in a row. Then 1 day it just so happened that Jeff(Strank I believe) answered the call and offered to help. As soon as I started telling him  my issue, He knew what the problem was. I believe MTH is aware of the issue. They sent me the proper wheel to complete my installation.

If you turn your gp-35 over you will see that while comparing the 2 trucks that the cogs are located on the same side on both trucks .All my other diesels have cogs onthe left on 1 truck and on the right for the other. I was told that MTH does have a very few engines designed this way. I believe that there are either 2 front trucks or 2 rear trucks instead of 1 front and 1 rear. Those Hirail kits are designed for 1 front and 1 rear. No reason for you to go out and buy a second kit to get the correct wheels you need. MTH should send you the correct wheel. At least they did this for Me. Hope this helps.
