What side frames with "crisper detail" are available that would fit on the Williams powered truck assemblies?

I have a NYC B unit that I'll be lowering, and would like to do this...  Hot Water, how about on your beautiful CB&Q set?

Thanks, but what about them? They perform VERY well and when applying the "three foot rule", they look very good also. Looking back to when I started that project, I had no idea that Sunset/3rd Rail was about to offer beautiful scale models of E7 units, including the CB&Q. Oh well.

Thanks,

Mario

I believe (I have no figures to give you) that the Williams A1A Blombergs are too long in

the wheelbase area; pretty sure that they use the same "power block" as the AAR A1A's

on the Williams Alco PA, and those trucks (real ones) were longer that the E's trucks.

Anyway, this is from memory of some "bashing research" I did 2 - 3 years ago on a stillborn project, so a grain of salt - and your own research - is advisable.

As Mr Water implied, if the other's parts are more accurate, they wouldn't look right anyway.

Could you improve the look yourself with some model railroading?

Thanks!

I was wondering if you had done this modification on your E units.  I couldn't tell from the pictures... which is a good segue.

I'll have to do some investigation... possibly just carve off the cast in brake cylinders and add some separate parts.  You are both right, this is going to be a trailing unit, so it could be a 3-foot model.

Thanks,

Mario

PS - Hot Water, did you get my photo of the pilot buffers for the P&D Hobby passenger pilot to fill in the holes?

I must have missed that, sorry. Obviously something I need to purchase from P&D?

Indeed!

It is not listed on their website; I only found them when I was there.

Thanks for the assistance. I order three of them, and they arrived about a week ago. I spray painted two of them, and when dry, I installed them this morning. Sure makes the two units look a LOT BETTER! I'll try to photograph them both at a later date.

Thanks again.
