TCA members may now access current lists of their fellow members, sorted by name, by TCA number, and by State, following approval of the plan by the Board of Directors.

We have had to take special steps to make sure that your private information does not get publicized to the public, or get indexed by the internet search engines, so it's in an especially protected place.

To view the Membership Directory, members will have to log in to the Members-Only portion of our web site at tcamembers.org/membership/membersgateway.htm (Can't remember that? Just go to the tcamembers.org home page, and on the menu system click on Services, then Directory of Information, and you'll get all the information.)

The logon is the same that you use to access the TCA x-change site. If you don't have an x-change account, that page will tell you how to sign up for one.

Once you've logged in to the members-only section, you'll see a link to the Membership Directory. On that page, there's an additional password that you'll use to open up the PDF you select of the Name, TCA number, or Location list you want to see. That additional password is there to encrypt the information and prevent search engines or others from getting to your private information.

And, as you'll see, this information may not be printed, shared, or otherwise divulged.

Give it a try!

Now why would you "vote" for this kind of thing in an election?  These are the kinds of things you elect a Board of Directors to consider and enact.  Not every policy change requires a vote of the membership in this or any other organization of this type.  You certainly don't have to make use of it if you don't care to.

Personally, it's not something I would be interested in using, even though it might be somewhat useful in my job from time to time.  Too many hoops to jump through.

Sorry, not a 'nice feature.' Nor is there any justification for it. Certainly don't remember voting for this in any TCA election.

Sheesh. Guess my little attempt at cell phone humor didn't work.

Time to refill my gin & tonic.

I tried it yesterday and had a problem using the links for the downloads.  I use computers at the library - in case that matters.

When I would click on one of the 3 links to download, I could see via a display in the bottom left of the window that it was downloading a PDF.  No window popped up to access it though - and I could NOT find where it downloaded it to!  I had some people more PC knowledgeable than me and they were stumped too.

The ONLY way that I could access it was to RIGHT CLICK on the link and choose the 'OPEN IN ITS OWN TAB" (wording may not be exact).  I then got the Password screen and I then saw another tab open.  When I selected that tab the report was there.

It wasn't alll that many years ago that the TCA sent a printed directory to all TCA members. Then some not-so-nice person started selling old directories on Ebay, which caused quite a stir.

When this was considered, along with the cost to print the directories, the TCA stopped printing them.

While I don't recall my TCA user-id and password, being able to look up a fellow member can be handy. It's one of the benefits of belonging to the TCA.
I did use the directory on occasion.

Without the ability for members to check another member's number, what is to stop someone from just making up a phoney number as part of a scam?

If some folks are concerned about their privacy and/or security, maybe the two signature rule should be revisited

Cost was determining factor...Members selling same on Ebay were reprimanded and or terminated...they figured in decision in no way.  Personally, I don't understand the hoops comment or the voting comment...WHY INDEED VOTE???...we didn't vote 40 years ago on whether to publish the books...I use the listing to determine who I deal with, and whom I take checks from...or simply to invite myself to see someone's layout close to home...that simple!!!  Thanks for posting Bill!!!
