Hi All,

I have been out of the O-gauge world for two years. Moving, problems with our horses and various efforts to get back into scale model railroading have taken up my time. But now I might be back I have secured a room in the basement approx 18' by 14'.

As I like Beer and the Milwaukee Road the name for the layout is given. I have a huge amount of MTH RealTrax so that is  what I will use.

The larger red squares will be a town above the railroad (I guess you can make out the tracks below.)

smaller red squares are possible destinations for freight. Trains will go from A to Yard, B to Yard and A to B. Switching will take place from yard to all industries. 1 to 2 patrols i guess. A and B will connect to staging (a term used in scale model railroading) in an adjacent room. Just to let you know I'm back. The Beer line will be run with MTH DCS and Lionel Legacy.

Yes thats right. There is also a book from the MRHA on the Beer Line. I think I will have fun with this concept. I might add a trolley line on the upper level. One problem is that the ceiling is less than 7' from the floor.

Looks "like a plan"

What will your radii going to be?  Don't think "how small a radius" think "how big a radius" can I fit (I would recommend 072 min, but you may not have the space).  Do you have room for a Turntable?  I recently installed an Atlas TT and am having loads of fun with it.

Although, you don't need a TT.  I've been doing research on the Norfolk & Portsmouth Belt Line and the book I have says their engines spent greater than 60% of their time going backwards!

I like your forum name, If you go 20' south east of A on the track plan thats where my home brewery is. (It's been down for 2 years for the same reasons as the Beer line)

Thank you. Here is a pic of my keg fridge. Apology for hijacking of thread. Happy Friday.

That MR Beer Line series remained on my night stand for two years while I conceived my own plan for a switching layout. It's a work in progress with industries that include a grain elevator, Westinghouse electric motor plant, dock side terminal, 2 food distributors, Ford Stamping plant, and a couple other small rail served industries. I have many hours of fun just classifying inbounds and switching the industries. Outbounds will be sent to my main layout when I finally decide to connect the two. You will have a lot of fun!
