When in doubt always look at the prototype...

John,
Great layout with all the goodies, including a son & daughter to enjoy everything with, you are a very lucky man.

Thanks Rod, I was thinking battleship grey with some weathering... or possibly a grimey black....the photo above looks to be a tan color with lots of chalk weathering?
Tuff thing is holding off for paint until the details are done.
J;
I wasn't thinking so much of what color, though grimy dark grey sounds about right.
I was thinking how will you actually get in there to paint all that bare wood?
Rod
Oh that's easy, it comes apart in 4 ft. sections... then off to the spray booth... (aka my garage) for a coat of shake a can spray primer, then I will dust it with the chalks.
OK that makes sense. Good plan.
Rod
I was worried that A) I would not be able to complete the project and it would functionaly fit, and B) Would it look like too much track, would the scene look right?
Well A worked out but B) I hope some details and a coat a paint it will fit right in...
To be honest its a blast running trains on the elevated rail, just back and forth.
John, track looks great, train looks great! I am famous for forgetting to check one key element before building. Haven't you seen me on the news? ;-) I would have had a black stripe or worse. I'm glad you didn't.
