Hello everyone,

As the title says the JADA railroad is being completely remodeled. There's a few reasons for this remodel, the main reason is the flooring in my layout room was holding a lot of mildew under it. Another reason is i want to use Gargraves track and Ross switches. My last reason is there's no room to move around in the layout room. This is a complete basement remodel, new flooring, new paint job and a completely different layout.

I will update this thread as progress is made it will be a long road but i have plenty of help, and i figure i should have trains running within 3 months. As for scenery that will be done a little at a time, at an enjoyable pace. Here's the first set of photos

Thanks for looking

Alex

Alex,i know what you are going through it took me a couple of years before i finally got the nerve to dismantle the old layout & mine was no where as nice as yours was with all the details that were on your layout as you know i have been working on my new layout since the summer, although i still have plenty of work to do,i am enjoying building this layout much more than the first one & i am just taking my time with it, don,t rush to get it done you will enjoy it much more, good luck & i am looking forward to seeing your progress, keep us posted.

Alex, when I saw your track for sale post and comments on one of Norm's scenery posts, I was wondering if you were getting ready for a remodel.  I'm glad I got to see your layout last summer in person.  It was nice seeing it again in the latest OGR run.

I am looking forward to seeing your newest project as it unfolds.  Keep us posted buddy.

Alex, I was shocked when PTC told me about your project.  Your reasons are good ones to motivate you to build something off the charts.  Your layout was beautiful and I always admired your attention to detail.  Please keep us posted as you go.  I assume this new layout will be NYC.  Any chanceof some live catenary?

Hi Guys,

Thank you all for the words of encouragement, i appreciate it very much.

We knew for a while we had a dampness issue, under the sub floor. Plus it gave me an excuse

to completely rebuild the entire basement and the layout. I have plenty of help with the demo

my daughters boyfriend is a gorilla, and  with my past carpenter experience and a very very strong  guy it's been quite easy.

I hope i can answer all of your questions, if i missed anyone's questions, please let me know

Overall layout space 22x18

Layout height 46 inches

if this makes sense a U shaped dog bone configuration, open middle

No track plan yet

Time period 40s to 60s

Theme  some NYC, UP, SP, N&W, PRR

Flooring, Epoxy

Gargraves  flex track , Ross custom switches

curves 088, 081

I'm in pretty good physical shape, but when you have a guy like this to help out

it makes things quite easy.  See photo below LOL LOL
