Hi! am thinking about my theme for York. In the spring it was Chessie. I'm thinking KCS or maybe Soo this time. But, its also time for some more big steam! Especially interested in Vision Line Challenger - if I can find one!

My "theme" this time will be to see if anyone is selling vintage cap guns. You never know!

Actually I did see a few for sale. Including the "Bomb "cap
I guess I don't understand the original posters Theme post?
Is this a Theme as in what you are going to wear to York?
Or is this something you are looking to purchase/ sell / or run ?

I've seen many there over the years, so odds are somewhat in your favor. I once brought a non-train guest who managed to find and buy a number of Star Trek items. "You never know" is a very appropriate theme for York.

Got too much stuff already......my theme will be primarily to visit and catch up with friends. 
I will get a copy of the new OGR video.......and, to be perfectly honest, if something catches my eye and matches with the cash in my pocket, it will likely come bome with me!

From the OP's post, it sounds like what you plan to buy. My theme is to buy only what is on my short list of wanted items and not let any great buys that I might see deter my goal.
Beer, Trains & Friends......not necessarily in that order.

The only thing I'll add is having the Flyers kick off the home season with a win Thursday night! My son is having a difficult time understanding how I can give up the home opener for a train meet!
For those of you who don't know me, I will be the guy in the Flyers jersey at dinner Thursday night.

P.S. I have a layout goal of displaying one each of the Lionel Postwar accessories. I am down to two. One is easy, the other is a one-year-only pile of flimsy, easily-broken plastic from 1963. I'm not optimistic, but, like the lottery man says, "hey, ya never know".
This is a nice song which can serve as a theme for the York Meet.

Very tempting and I thank-you for the offer however I have already gotten rid of my tickets.
I was fortunate to trade them to a buddy of mine who has Eagles tickets and my son and I are going to the Eagles/Giants game on 12/22 instead (it's a good game to go to as he's off school and I'm off work the next day).
Besides, my son would be crushed if I ever went to a sporting event without him.

I agree with this 100%. I once bought an old pay phone a guy had sitting under his table. the reason was my girlfriend likes Rotary Dial phones. Got the phone out to the car and the coin mech was still inside and it still dinged binged and bonged! Makes a neat Bank!

Come to think of it, one of my best finds at York was a very old, large-size, Putz house with a Santa and snowman in the front yard. I paid $20. for it, and have seen two at antique shows over the the years for $100. and $125..
That's a good trade, Greg. But still... opening night of a Stanley Cup season? Hmmm.

Hi! by themes I mean something I'm going to focus on for searching/purchases during the meet. You can do this in lots of ways. Typically, I do a railroad - Chessie, N&W and New Haven have been some I have done. Also, sometimes I do types of locomotives - big steam, F7s, berkshires are examples. A constant are cabooses - I am always looking to build my collection with new road names and types.
My theme for purchases is whatever catches my eye.
My theme for dress, as with all train events I go to, is Allentown and Auburn Railroad.
